Mist settled across the forest floor, casting eerie visions across the trees. Night creatures sang at my presence, ominous sounds to ward away any so foolish as to traverse the woods of Styria in the dark. The moist smell sent shocks of cold into my lungs, the condensation collecting in droplets upon my dirty skirt and bodice. Soon, I could barely see my own feet.
